a collection of psa-type videos were made as a solution to inform people the dangers and scope of the problem of steroid abuse among high school students in arizona. the psas were developed with school programming in mind, so the videos were kept very short, but also powerful in imagery/information. clicking the link opens the psa page within the juiced campaign website.
asked to recreate the opening title sequence for a movie in their own vision, i decided to work with a film i have always enjoyed- predator. my aim was to focus on the aspect of the 'alien invasion' theme, but also leave the sense of wonder as to what the alien was. by not revealing certain information, i felt that i developed a good sense of intrigue and tension which would have led nicely into the beginning of the film.
as an exercise in motion design, two words were randomly chosen ('clock' and 'over') and were to be transistioned between, in as simple of means as possible. i decided a countdown could signify as 'clock'- and when the countdown reached zero, the zero could also act as the 'o' in 'over'.
communication through interactive design has a fine line when being implemented- the designer should not assume that every user needs to have their hand be held and slowly guided through, nor should the designer feel that all users are all technologically savvy and require no guidance whatsoever. that is the fine line with interactive design, the designer should communicate necessary informaiton but also let the user discover content and give them the sense of satisfaction.
